My name is Stella. I am a Business Intelligence Analyst in the day time, a budding crime novelist, total foodie and a cake artist.
I love to reach out to people and am sometimes known to talk too much when I meet new friends! I have made friends all over the world and have room for more. I believe that as human beings we are made to love and nurture one another.
I have written two unpublished crime novels with one that was recently shortlisted for a literary prize so watch this space!
I have been baking since the age of 13.
I stumbled into cake decorating a few years ago when after another frustrated attempt at re-writing my manuscript I asked a friend to show me how to cover my tasty cakes. My friend told me to tag along to our local community college where they taught sugar flowers and I fell in love.
I acquired qualifications from various colleges included an advanced piping qualification from Brooklands College, Surrey.
Cake decorating for me is an art and gives me the instant gratification that writing a long manuscript doesn’t. I had always seen myself as a writer not an artist so it was hard to accept that I could ever be good at it. I am slowly realising that I could be good but still have some way to go (I never imagine you can ever stop learning and there are some fantastic artists out there)!
I created MyCakeresort because I feel that there can never be enough cake blogs as each blogger have their own personal take on things. Mine is to showcase great cakes, assist beginners, share cake-related events and news all around the world, take great photographs, and make more friends along the way. I try to attend as many cake exhibitions as possible in the UK. I am now extending that to outside of the UK and hope to attend other exhibitions in other parts of the world and share this. I love wedding shows and will also highlight the really interesting ones. I like to update the news part of the website as much as I can.
